My name is Jesper and I work as a teacher at the carpentry department of Plusgymnasiet. It´s located a few kilometers away from the main school in Gothenburg, Sweden. The school has around 700 pupils in 9 different programs, both theoretical and practical. We have around 90 pupils studying carpentry in 3 classes.

While it looks small from the outside, the workspace is in fact 1500 square meters and this allows us to build quite a lot indoors. This is important to us since the climate in Sweden can be rather harsh at times.
Hello Jesper! I didn't know about your big facilities! I agree about the climate! I have been looking at the Australian pictures and thought about how they can work outdoors in a different way than we. But your students do work outdoors too? Or is it when they have their workplace training?
ReplyDeleteMostly during the workplace training but they somtimes assemble the prefabricated sections at site.
DeleteQuite a lot sqare meters. How many students do you have there at the same time? Is it a private school?
ReplyDeleteIt is a private school. We try to have no more than 60 students at the same time as we feel more would compromise the learning process.
ReplyDeleteHow many of the students are girls? Is it a low percentage of female students at your program?
ReplyDeleteWe have only had one girl complete the 3 year education so far but it looks like there is 2-3 aplicants for next year.
