Photo 7: ‘Aspects that are interesting’:
In the foreground is a pergola that the indigenous, aboriginal students constructed whilst doing a ‘construction pathways, course. In the background is K block. A new, mean green machine, that is a low carbon footprint, automatically breathing, new age building.

  1. Do your students ever get to work in the new building? Were the indigenous students your students?

  2. Hi Susanne,
Yes we get to use the new building, in fact it is nearly our home away from home. Our computer labs are in this building so we are often there. The basement of the building is very 'new age' and is used for functions and displays.
The indigenous students were taught by one of our Stage three Carpentry teachers over a period of approximately six months. This is not a good picture of the pergola, the students cut patterns into the rafters and it has a beautiful solid sheet glass handrail on the front that if you look closely you can just make out. The glazing students completed this as a practical project.
