Photos 3 and 4: A learning situation:
The next two photos (photo 3 and 4) involve the students erecting a roof frame and then installing a ceiling frame and eaves. The students have to design, draw, calculate and build all aspects of this project. The competencies that apply to this practical audit are,
· Constructing Pitched Roofs.
· Constructing Ceiling Frames.
· Construct Eaves.

Hello Barry,
ReplyDeleteLooks real good mate! It appears as though we have a similar practical project for Roof Frames. We also cluster these three units together. It works really well for us!
P.S the "Barn looks nice and roomy - I'm a little jealous
Thanks Mark, your right these competencies work well together and the students get a better insight into how components fit together. The barn and the accompanying classrooms are a great work area but we have the same pressure as everyone else has regarding assessing in the workplace. definitely changing times.
DeleteHello. Is there any snow during your winter? I mean do you have to consider that when building roofs?
ReplyDeleteHi Stefan,
ReplyDeleteThere is no snow in Canberra but two and a half hours from here there are ski fields in the Snowy Mountains. I lived there for 16 years and they have snow loading on roofs there and construction is cyclone rated. They are not really mountains like you would have in Sweden. Do you have a lot of snow in winter or just in some areas?
